Thinking Beyond the Ballroom
Let’s face it. Thinking about fundraising as a one-day, big gala-only opportunity is a thing of the past. With the emergence of online giving, mobile donations, and other fundraising platforms, donors expect to see and connect with your organization throughout the year.
In response to this shift, forward-thinking organizations now offer a variety of ways for donors to give outside of the ballroom. For example, with OneCause’s Fundraising Suite software, you have 365 days to engage with your donors online and promote your cause to a wider audience.
Here are three ways OneCause’s software provides year-round fundraising opportunities beyond the ballroom:
- Raffles: Do you have access to box seats at a sporting event, an Executive Director or Principle who is up for anything (think dunk tank), or a generous donor with a fantastic vacation home? Use these opportunities to set up a Giving Center and sell raffle tickets. No need to send out tickets or be present to win; once the raffle closes, you’ll be able to pull the Fixed Price ticket report and select a winner.
- Donation-only: Spin up a Giving Center site that allows donors to give year-round. This could be a link on your website that donors can click on at any point in the year or a limited time offer that allows donors to contribute to a specific cause (think iPads for the new school year or a new AC unit for the community center).
- Online-Only Auction: There’s no need to turn item donations away when you have OneCause. You can be auctioning off items throughout the year. Those tickets that expire before the auction? Create an event site just for those and allow donors to bid and enjoy before they expire. Didn’t sell all your auction items on event day? Save them for a holiday online auction. You won’t have to reduce prices and you won’t have to hold onto them until next year.
There are so many ways to utilize the software you’ve purchased, so get creative and lean on your OneCause team! Your Account Manager is available to brainstorm new ideas with you and share best practices.
