Streamlining, Not Streaming! Keeping Radio Request-A-Thon Fresh

Online Giving, Peer-to-Peer, Virtual Fundraising | Peer-to-Peer & Online Giving | Mon, Sept 14, 2020

Make-A-Wish® Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana has hosted their Request-A-Thon with 99.5 WZPL for 23 years… Playin’ tunes and granting wishes! The format is simple: radio listeners call into the volunteer phone bank to make a donation and request a song — any song! This event spans 36 hours, so the volunteers and DJs are engaging donors around the clock, all while sharing the inspiring stories of children whose wishes have been or are being granted. While radio may be a declining media, the 2019 Request-A-Thon proved to be their most successful yet — beating their $650K goal by nearly $200K! In this session we will unpack the successful strategies and tools used to keep listeners listening, calling, and giving. Additionally, we will review the tools that the Development Operations team and front-line fundraisers use to plan for a successful year-end finale.
