INDIANAPOLIS – Organizations and businesses throughout Indiana are looking to boost charitable contributions and volunteerism through efforts surrounding #GivingTuesday. Global organizers say the movement drummed-up some $116 million last year and involved more than 700,000 people in 70 countries. In Indiana, nonprofits are using the day to showcase themselves and the communities they serve.
The event follows Thanksgiving weekend in the United States and coincides with consumer-focused days like Black Friday and Cyber Monday and organizers say it helps kick off the charitable season and spotlights individuals and organizations giving or seeking holiday or end-of-year donations.
