Local Police and Improv Theatre ?!?!
Posted by mdobbins on Jul 16, 2009
Police officers and TellTale enforce teen success. TellTale is very excited about the development of our newest program. It's called Police-Teen Link. This innovative and interactive program is focused on bringing police officers and local at-risk teens together. It will offer a unique educational and mentoring opportunity, while addressing teen-crime issues. TellTale Theatre with its professional Improvisational Troupe, Off the Cobb (OTC) will use theater and improv techniques to breakdown communication barriers and build trust between the teens and the officers. The program is targeted to help build self-esteem in the teens and enhance their job skills; speaking, writing, interviewing, planning and, for some, provide specific training. Police officers and teens in the program will be guided to use their own experiences and common struggles to work together and create a stage show that will tour locally to middle and high schools. The City of Acworth mayor and police force as well as Acworth's Theatre on Main are on-board to partner with us to implement this new program. Success for All Students in Cobb is also interested in using the program in conjunction with their drug prevention and emotional stabilization programs. We are currently seeking grant money for the initial implementation of the project and as always, our program success is made possible by the ongoing support of our community. If you would like to support the new Teen-Link program or would like more information, please call us at 770-427-8206 or e-mail telltaletheatre@mindspring.com.
