Fred Mindlin describes himself as a digital storytelling evangelist. He began offering technology support to Writing Project activities in 1996 but did not participate in an Invitational Summer Institute until 2007. Fred taught 3rd and 4th grade for a dozen years, first as a bilingual/multicultural specialist and then as one of the original teachers with Alianza Charter School's two-way immersion program. He spent the last seven years of his public school teaching career as a technology integration trainer and administrator. Since retiring in 2006 he has been consulting with schools and non-profit organizations on digital storytelling, which he calls “the cat’s meow” of technology integration. He is also a web designer and arts education activist, and Board President of the Pajaro Valley Arts Council.
