The Norma Livingston Ovarian Cancer Foundation is a 501-(3)(c) nonprofit organization started in January of 2004 by Lori Livingston who lost her mother, Norma Livingston to ovarian cancer. 21,000 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2011 of which 16,000 will not survive. 1 in 72 women.
Our mission is to raise funds for ovarian cancer research and to increase awareness about the risks, symptoms and treatments of this disease. There is much ongoing research to develop a diagnostic test for this deadly cancer. that must be funded. Early diagnosis is critical in saving lives. When ovarian cancer is found early (stage I) there is a 90% survival rate. Unfortunately, that is rarely the case. Ovarian cancer is usually found in advanced stages with a survival rate of 24%. Our hope is that by continuing to raise funds to support research, by raising awareness and educating women about the early warning signs of ovarian cancer we will save lives. We will make a difference. It is our passion!
