The Otter Project exists to promote the rapid recovery of the California Sea Otter. A threatened species under the Endangered Species Act, sea otters are more than just cute! They are an important keystone species that help maintain healthy near shore coastal eco-systems. They do this by balancing the food chain while pruning kelp forests in order to gorge on otter delicacies such as sea urchin, lobster, and abalone. The Otter Project advocates for sea otter restoration through science based policy and activism, recognizing that the health of these magnificent creatures is indicative of the health of our coastal oceans!
